Q. I was wondering about pest control responsibility. I live in a condo building. I’m getting constant roaches in my unit. I’m a very clean person and had no problem for 10 years. Obviously the building is infested. Who supposed to fix it?

A. “A building-wide roach infestation is quite clearly a board responsibility,” says attorney Barry Kreisler of the Chicago firm Kreisler Law, P.C., “as it emanates from and is partially contained in the common areas of the building. The board should employ a professional exterminator to address the problem. The board has the right to access individual units upon reasonable notice towards the end that the problem is completely solved by accessing and applying appropriate treatment to all portions of the building.”
